Andrew Cooper - Head PGA Professional
From a young age, golf has been a real passion for me. Growing up in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, the local golf club was a home from home, where I developed my skills and my love for the game. As a member of Scottish Training Squads, my game developed with guidance from some of Scotland’s leading coaches. Whilst completing a degree in Politics and Economics at Stirling University and being a member of the University’s Sports Scholarship Programme, I was fortunate to have John Chillas, a two-time Scottish Professional Champion, as my coach; John was a great inspiration for me and really helped develop my knowledge of the game.
After turning professional in 2001, I completed the PGA Diploma Programme, which further enhanced my knowledge. Since earning my PGA status, I have been committed to the PGA's Professional Development Programme, which I have found to be a great way of developing my knowledge and interest in the game. I regularly attend workshops and seminars, which are run by leading sports professionals and cover all aspects of playing and learning golf, including: technique, biomechanics, golf-specific fitness and psychology. In addition, I enjoy learning more about the game through extensive reading and research and through my own playing experiences.
